Charitable Giving

Twice each year (around January and July), we select a charitable organization to give both our time and our money. If your organization needs financial, volunteer, or legal assistance, please write us a letter explaining your needs.  In your letter, please help us understand your needs by telling us:

  • About your organization’s charitable purpose.
  • Who your organization helps.
  • What can we do to volunteer our time.
  • How much money you are raising and for what purpose.
  • Anything else you would like to tell us.

We are sometimes asked why we only give when we can contribution both our time and money. First, lawyers are ethically required to give at least 40 hours of pro bono legal service  each year.  Second, our experience has shown that our charitable gifts make a bigger difference with charities that have well developed groups of volunteers.

We aspire to make a difference. In general, we help organizations that work in our local community, benefit from our legal/technical expertise, or assist  children, particularly runaways or throwaways. If you send us a letter, we promise to write back.
